Miss Kitty

One of my dad's very good friends passed away on Monday leaving behind a dog and cat. One of the sons has agreed to take the dog but no one will take the kitty. I went over to the house today and met the cat - she is 3 years old. The wife adopted her as a kitten - had her de-clawed, spayed, etc..... The wife passed away in Jan. 2010 and now the husband. The cat is so frightened and sad. The sons told me "Oh it is a wild feral cat" - I asked why they'd say that and they say "Well it wont' come up to you and it hit me after I was petting it". I shook my head and explained a cat doesn't generally come up to people till it gets to know them and cats can hit but it doesn't mean they are mean or wild. I spent 30 minutes with the sweetheart in the bathroom - by the end it was licking on a cat nip bag I gave it. She never hit me or growled at me but she did give me a look of "Please save me!" Obviously we can't take her because of her being de-clawed but I did put her on Petfinder and Adopt A Pet. The daughter will be here for a few weeks getting the house ready to sell.
